CALL FOR HELP FOR THE SYRIAN EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

e have been working with a group of talented Syrian refugees in Jordan since our collaboration with UNHCR started in 2017. We are heart-broken as we read the news of their co-nationals back in Syria, who have lost their lives or who have been displaced, this time because of a natural catastrophe. Here are 3 organisations which we know well and which we would recommend supporting, should you wish to send help at this horrible time.

The White Helmets are volunteers working at full capacity to save everyone they can, but with limited resources. Several hospitals buckled in the tremors and the health system in northern Syria is already severely depleted after years of attacks by Russia and the Syrian regime. They urgently need support. Your donation will help them source more equipment to respond to all the incidents and fuel to transport the injured.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. Preliminary data suggests that as many as 5.3 million people in Syria may have been affected by the recent earthquake and will need some form of shelter assistance, and UNHCR, has been rushing aid to the badly impacted parts of the country. UOSSM, founded in January 2012 in France, is on the ground providing emergency care to all casualties and calls on the international community to release emergency funds to provide aid and rescue resources immediately. UOSSM hospitals and medical facilities are overwhelmed and will need support to ensure lives are saved during this crisis. The hospitals are overwhelmed with the injuries and deaths, and lack resources to be able to handle such a massive human catastrophe.
